Day 4

After wonderful days in Mostar we travelled to a more exotic place. The ride did not bother us because we stopped in a few beautiful places to stretch our legs and shake our bodies.

The first stop brought us to a lovely Roman ruined home with a great view because there were no walls left.

The bird safari (what birds?) was beautiful. We went on two different way boats and had to sit very still otherwise the boat would capsize. Luckily we managed to stay calm.

It was really hard to get to the tower, because of the slippery stones and the hot weather. But in the end it was all worth it.  Look for yourself, the pictures are saying more than thousand words. When we arrived at the camp we were all amazed by the view. We could not resist crystal clear water and took a refreshing dive. In the afternoon we did a workshop bridgebuilding, literally. but not for ourselves, for Bob.

Look this is Bob. Bob has no arms. *knock knock* who’s there? It isn’t Bob.

(Stay tuned for Bob’s amazing journey through the paper bridges.)

Dear Mostar

Thank you for all your warmth and joy! You have been very good to us.
You are a perfect place to get to know the your beautiful old town and the locals.
We have seen the most beautiful things that you have. Nice memories under the Mostar Old bridge have been created. We started exploring the definition and meaning of democracy in different countries and the role the youth can play in it.

Mostar’s love injected in our group and the first young loves started to blossom under your wings.

Now we are off to the camp side for the second part of the exchange were we will further explore democracy and experience Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Thank you again and hope to meet you again in the bright future.

Lots of love,

Lovers of Mostar

Day 3

Once upon a time there were 49 heroes spending their third day in Mostar, Bosnia & Herzegovina.

The day started with a beautiful sunshine and exclusive breakfast at the rooftop of heroes’ headquarter.

Obviously the day cannot go by without saving the world so Bosnia requested us to join forces to come up with micro-initiative projects which would solve down-going problems in every kingdom.

Unfortunately it is not in our power to change the weather nor the ability to fly so we had to go through a condition where it was raining cats and dogs (literally) in order to get to our lunch place.

As you know, superheroes need to charge their batteries once in a while so could you imagine a better way to do it than a water fight at the HQ’s rooftop or swimming in the river under the Mostar’s famous Old Bridge.

It is necessary to unite powers to have a bigger impact with saving the world so we had team-bonding exercises to unknot the last distances between one another.

After evaluating the successes of the day and just before calling it a night many of us discovered some new powers on the dance-floor of the Batman’s cave.

The heroes are more than likely to live happily ever after (until tomorrow that is).

Day 2

After the delicious breakfast we had an activity called Scavenger Hunt which took place in Mostar’s Old Town. You can see comments and pictures below.
group 6

“The monument was made to honor a Bosnian writer Osman Djikic. After a primary school was ruined, they decided to build the monument instead of that.”

group 4

“The Bruce Lee statue in Mostar symbols solidarity and creates a connection between different people.”

group 3

“Hamam is Turkish bath, built for islamic workers and we heard that local muslims really enjoy it.”

group 2

“It’s a statue of a Bosnian writer Aleksa Šantić who was well known for his poems: “Emina” and “Ostanite ovde” (Stay here). He’s buried in Mostar and the statue is very important to locals.”

group 1

“Brankovac is a part of Mostar and it was easy to find because it’s a famous part of the town and everyone knows where it is.”

“During the exchange there’s even time for a mix of culture and relaxing. In this particular case the relaxing part took place in front of the Mostarska Liska and the Synagoge… Occassion of relaxation!!”

After the Scavenger Hunt we had a democracy workshop by Serbia. The main topic was the case if the youth initiative of human rights. We were divided into fictional political groups and pretend that we were citizens of a fictional country willing to join the “Sunny Union”. During this role play all of us got very passionate about their roles. This was definitely a very educational workshop and inspired by real life problems that many countries face.

After the workshop it was time for evaluation and dinner. It was a great day full of entertainment and education!
