About this project

From Friday 24 July to Sunday 2 August 2015, a group of forty youngsters from Bosnia-Herzegovina, Estonia, the Netherlands and Serbia will come together in the city of Mostar, in Bosnia-Herzegovina, for a youth exchange on “Our democratic future: The role of youth in modern democracy“.

In a country that has been struggling to fulfill its democratic promise since the 1995 Dayton Peace Accords, participants will explore the meaning of modern democracy and democratic practice, as well as ways in which youth can participate in and contribute to democratic structures – through workshops, role-play and simulation games.

Taking place in the city of Mostar, a town that witnessed some of bitterest ethnic divisions during the breakdown of Yugoslavia, this youth exchange also aims to encourage dialogue, counter prejudice and foster positive awareness of other cultures among the youngsters from the four participating countries.

That does not mean we are being all too serious: we plan on getting to know each other through silly games, will try to outshine one another as we prepare our culinary highlights for the national dinner and, mostly, are determined to have loads of fun!
